Hi ladies and gents,

Yesterday I was on the motorway and my emission mgmt light came on and I lost power.

Managed to limp into a service station where an AA guy was standing. He plugged in the diagnostic machine and it brought up a misfire on the first cylinder.

He said "I'm 90% sure I'll have you back on the road shortly."

Anyway, he went to his van and got a coil pack (apparently that was the problem)but it was the wrong colour.

Ended up getting it towed back home as a mechanic friend said I could do serious damage to the cats if I ran it.

So my questions are:

- Best case - where can I get a coil pack from (have been searching on UK google but all I seem to get are US dealers or people that don't stock them).

- Worst case - Where can I get the above plus a couple of cats?

- Fun case - who makes the best performance exhausts, how much, and how many more ponies can I expect to squeeze out?

Apologies for the essay, and I have tried to find stuff myself, was hoping you guys knew of decent places and could share your wisdom!

Cheers!

Dr G

Can't help on most of those, but for exhausts....

Plenty of youtube videos as well to see if you like the sound. Not sure of the market view of them....

cheers guys. Have ordered one in the hope it's just that.

I asked Audi and they were desperate to do a diagnostic...would be talking £150 minimum when I can get the part for £25 from GSF.

Would I be foolish to do it myself?

Mel (S4 avant owner) told me about this before; It's (99%) the individual coil pack on the dodgy cylinder. You've not done damage, and is about 20minutes to fix - and is a fairly well known issue.

It just sends shivers down your spine for a few days, that's all.

It's literally an unplug, plug in fix.

How do you tell which cylinder?

Keen rather than desparate, simply in that you'd be mighty peeved if they started spending your money before they knew what was wrong wink

Thanks!

I see where you're coming from Dr G...but £28 vs £150 is a no brainer if it's 90%+ that it's the coil pack! If it doesn't fix it I'll take it on the chin and go to Audi! smile

Got a mechanic coming over tomorrow so have everything crossed!

Could you see my other post re numbering?

Oh and for the one above the AA plugged in their machine and told me which cylinder it was biggrin
