there seems to be quite a few well priced lease deals on these cars right now, and what with my doing a reasonable amount of miles each year, pretty much mostly motorway, could be tempted by one.
Anybody driven one, or have any further info/links to some good deals? Evo et al seem to rate them reasonably highly

We had one for 4 months / 4000 miles.
I was quite pleasantly surprised by it. Before the TT TDi we had an R32 so there was a bit of a worry that it might be a bit of a come-down. In many ways it wasn't that dissimilar to driving the R32 but with the rev-limiter about 2000rpm lower down... In everyday use I didn't really miss the extra revs.
I saw one review (I think it was on Fifth Gear) where they were 'disappointed' that it lacked a real diesel 'shove', but for me that was one of the plus points - the engine alway seemed to provide nice, useable, progressive acceleration. There wasn't any real lack of mid-range go of the type that you use most of the time when driving / overtaking in the real world.
Handling-wise I couldn't tell you how it compared with a petrol TT as I haven't driven one since they were launched (and that was the 3.2 version). The steering is definitely a bit numb/odd with a weird tendancy to 'flop' into certain corners and roundabouts; I never really got a handle on quite when/why it did this - it may be a characteristic of all TTs.
The only other comments I'd make are (1) for me there isn't quite enough legroom in the front which becomes uncomfortable on long journeys, (2) the leather seats were going noticeably saggy by the end of our relatively short time with the car and (3) it seemed to be quite susceptible to stone chips - not sure how much this is down to the shape and how much to the paint.
If it's a day-to-day car your looking for then I think it's a pretty good compromise.

interesting comments/observations - thanks. i do know what you mean about not missing the upper reaches of the rev range - its rare that i really stretch the legs of my current car, and can quite happily make progress with the mid range in most instances. Diesel appeals as i do a lot of m'way miles, but the overall package of refinement and comfort plus the TT being an already decent handling car appeals.
not that many about which may prove tricky to get a test drive in one to see how it goes. currently drive a cooper s works which will be hard to replace as an all rounder but the extra economy, lower tax and insurance would all add up

Glad it was (some) use. Not sure how to resolve the test drive issue - we had ours blind, but it was a company car and was always going to be short-term, so we knew didn't have to live with it if it didn't work out.
Hopefully there's a dealer out there with one somewhere for you to try.
Speaking as a one time Cooper owner myself the paint chips and saggy leather won't be anything new to you

I spotted same lease deals, more than £100pcm cheaper than a 2.0TFSi. Even adding the VAT, extra mileage and options I reckon it would be hard pushed to see £350pcm. 67MPG and 7.5s to 60?? No brainer for me. Credit crunch sports car! Mine will be charcoaly colour with the RS6 wheels, and some other bits and bobs inside.

Interestingly, spoke to local stealer and he said that not only are there no customer (or dealer) offers on TT TDi, but they don't understand where these deals are coming from, and they think it is a house of cards. He would say that wouldn't he. Pursuing some of these leasing co's now... Blown2CV said:

Pursuing some of these leasing co's now... ive sent a couple of e-mails out but would be interested to hear any developments you make - the basic deals are looking good but are for very basic spec. A couple of options really nudges the price up!
I have investigated... it is business user only. Audi Finance are no longer doing Personal lease. I don't know whether that means they don't do PCP anymore either, but certainly the cheap TDi is strictly VAT-reg BCH only. What a gyp! On the up-side, A5 2.0 TDi 170bhp stop/start is looking pretty good, even with personal deals.
Options do stack quickly, as for the vast majority they do not affect residual, you pay for the full cost of option divided over the payments. The exceptions to this rule are generally metallic paint, leather interior, and at a push integrated sat nav.

There is a deal at the Moment 239+vat 2year contract hire 10k per anumm 2.0 TDI Quattro only Black or white though
GSM LEASING
Mate there are loads of these deals around at the moment, they are all backed by Audi finance, business user only. The cheapest I have seen is about 20 quid less than the one you mention, but that may have been with a bigger deposit. GSM LEASING
For PCP, I managed to get £380pcm (inc VAT) 12k PA (I might spill over that mileage!) for meteor grey TDi quattro S-Line with the RS6 wheels, BOSE, Ipod, bluetooth, storage, cruise... £3k dipper though (equal to the value of my current daily driver), so 10+35!. Still mulling over it... the business user deal would have been not far off that monthly payment at only 3+35. No use crying over that as its a no-go unless you are a VAT registered business director and feel like paying for co car tax on it instead (might not be a bad idea as v low CO2)
