I have a 2006 A6 Allroad which requires a full bonnet respray. I bought the car a year ago with a slight paint defect (on the bonnet only), it seems that the paint has peeled off in an even pattern all over the bonnet.

It is hardly noticable but still very annoying. Audi is not covering this under their paint warranty as they do not know why this has appeared. It seems that it has gone through the clearcoat and no wetsanding is possible.

Any ideas on someone who can perform a good bonnet respray (with blending) in the South East at a reasonable cost (looking for around 300 - 400 pounds if possible)?

Many thanks,

Dr G

Bodyshop we use is CCR in Iver Heath - very good standard of work and will come in nicely under your budget too.

That's a pretty poor excuse, have you tried Audi UK?

Thanks LeoSayer,

Yes I have tried Audi UK but they do not want to do anything.

Their excuse is that they do not know what happened and that the 1st owner (I am the 2nd owner) did not mention anything to Audi.

The problem is that it is hardly noticable and the 1st owner did not even notice it. I did not found out myself until 15 days after buying the car and a full detailing of the car was done. The marks are like small dried watermarks an thus you do not think it is damaged paint. You do see it however, especially when the sun is shining on the bonnet and it annoys me on such a nice car. By the time I contacted the garage and Audi 3 weeks after purchase, they did not want to know anything. Nice service!

Hope to sort this out without too much of a cost.

Off day sorry, could it not be bird droppings that were cleaned off too late?

No it is a very, very even pattern all over the bonnet (and bonnet only). Various people have told me that this could be related to the protection film on a new car that has been removed only after a very long time. Of course Audi is denying this.

As the pattern is so even (all marks are like water marks in vertical lines from bottom of bonnet to top). I have tried to take some pictures but is is very difficult to catch it on photo.

I would have thought that if Audi don't know what's caused then that is exactly what the warranty should be for.

Were they able to say it was clearly caused by neglect or damage then the warranty would not cover it.

Get the paint examined and threaten court action if the report shows it was a manufacturing defect or was caused by the delivery protection.
