Mk4 Golf 1.8T - Performance stuttering around 4k revs??
Discussion
Hey, I've had my Golf for sometime now & it's pretty much always had a performance sort of stuttering issue. Basically if you drive it normally it's fine, but if you put your foot down hard & enter into the turbo area of the revs, it starts to stutter & jerk, as if it's got a fuel supply, or electrial fault. Within a second or so it clears & off it goes.
It's been plugged into static electrical diagnosis kit & nothing, although I've been advised to stick it on a rolling road to see if anything else shows up.
Has anyone come across this issue before?
Cheers all

That's a couple of things to crack on with then!
Nope, the car has never been remapped to my knowledge, & the problem started since I've owned it.
I have an A3 1.8T and had similar issues to you prior to my remap. Car would often hesitate a bit through the rev range and idle a bit lumpy. Nope, the car has never been remapped to my knowledge, & the problem started since I've owned it.
The place that did my remap told me to clean my MAF and throttle body. I picked up a can of intake cleaner and cracked on with doing it and it sorted everything out. The crud that came out of the throttle body was shocking!.
You can pick up a can of intake cleaner from Halfords for about a fiver. Take the MAF out (its bolted to the side of the airbox) and give it a good spray. Throttle body is on the intake manifold, pop the big rubber hose off and spray the cleaner inside. Be ready with a rag underneath it though as it will pour back out along with all the crud.
Shouldnt take long and fingers crossed shoud sort things out. If it carries on the go for a new MAF. Buy a genuine BOSCH one though. Might cost a bit more but you do an exchange on the old one. The pattern ones are shoddy and wont last.
