Been thinking about one of these for a while and am now rather tempted to take the plunge. Looking for a 2 year old one ideally.

Are there any really bad points to watch for? Any options I should make sure it has?

Thanks

The more toys the merrier! B&O not standard and worth having.

Epic piece of kit but in dire need of a Milltek.

Complicated enough that Audi warranty well worth having.

We have two of these we look after.

The good points
Goes like stink, very quiet and refined. Best handling of any air suspension car, almost as good as proper springs and dampers. Famous thanks to the transporter films.

The bad
Virtually no space under the bonnet means if anything goes wrong its hard to replace and that means big labour bill. Tracker, phone and DVD fitters often mess up the various networks, try to avoid none genuine accessories like the plague.

Only 2 or 3 faults to date with the ones we look after, both arround 40K miles now, Which is like none for a typical modern car with that mush technology on it.

(1) was a water ingress into the foot well, caused by a missing bolt from production. That didnt go down well, the first time it rained 1st week of ownership. Have never seen it before or since. presumably the Germans shot the man that left it off.

(2) issues with the phone ECU not pairing properly all the time, was faulty ECU but many people have problem with unsupported phones, Iphone is the worst and never works properly, Nokia's seem best for pairing to the car.

(3) FSI high pressure sensor failure, engine light on a reduced performance. Took 10 mins to diagnose and less than an hour to fit, not really a big deal at all.

We had an S6 V10 in today, I'd forgoten about those.

Its got propper springs and dampers, Not Air suspention, and not DRC.

And the same engine gearbox and toys as the S8 V10, drives very nicely, bit more road noise apart from that I'd say better car than the S8.

It's a W12 in the Transporter movies tongue out

Personally I find the ride/handling balance better in the S8 than we S6 - neither is a car that particularly promotes 10/10 cornering so think I'd rather have the squishier S8.

but it doesn't have the W12 exhausts and it makes a v8 noise. Apparently it's quite common knowledge that it's a v8 used in Transporter 2. Regrettable really, but the w12 has the more oblong shaped exhausts

I imagine they bent a few and used whatever Audi had lying around - the 'making of' specifically mentions the W12.
