MK6 Golf Telephone Preparation
Discussion
I have got a new GTD Golf. Does anyone know if the bluetooth mobile phone system can be retrofitted easily. It has got all the buttons on the sterring wheel and on the dash next to the screen, but it isnt wired up.
I have heard somewhere, that many manufacturers put identical wiring looms into all their cars(of the same model) and then simply activate the appropriate features according to customer order.
Will check the speck of the car more closely next time! If anybosy is able to offer any advice I would be grateful.

I've heard of similar things happening with other Audi dealers too where some say it can be done and others say it can't. Might be worth asking another dealer and/or a VW specialist the same question.
Having just upgraded to an A6 to get this kind of functionality I appreciate how good it is - probably worth the calls.

Sometimes there are easier options, but I'd imagine you'd need some additional hardware. There is a chap on here call CraigyB who does Bluetooth retro-fits on Audi's, he may can advise. I think this is his website http://www.tclsatnav.com/whj said:

On the contrary, from what I've read, each car has a specific wiring loom to connect just the features fitted. As an example I added the On-Board computer function to my 2003 Boxster, as the software is already in the CPU. However to get it all working I was still required to make up a custom harness and remove the steering wheel and pull apart the dash to connect it all up.

Everything is "just-in-time" now. If you can save a couple of feet of copper in every other car and you make 400,000 cars a year it soon adds up.What nav unit is fitted If it's the touch screen (RNS 510 i think) you can buy the parts to have fully integrated bluetooth (all controls on screen if phone supports remote sim) from ebay germany or VRStu on the octavia vrs forum for a round £300 iirc. Oddly i believ this option was only available in europe the uk got a poor relation http://www.octavia-vrs.com/technical/bluetooth.htm...
