Polo - Reverse light switch.

Hi All,
Kind of a repost as i asked a related question in GG but figured i'd get more specialised help in here!
The reverse light on the GF's 00 W Polo doesn't work, its not the bulb, fixing shows no voltage getting to it.
Think i have located the switch under the bonnet which seem to be haging loose so isn't plugged in. Is the switch a two pin plug? (female)
Where exactly does it get plugged into I thought i'd found it on the lower side of the gear box but it won't for all the wiggling in the world click in so i think i must be wrong.
