Battery probs - A8
Discussion
Seem to be having battery problems on the A8. Battery management light kept coming on and battery flat on one occasion. Got new battery courtesy of RAC and then to main stealer to get reset done.
They said it was wrong battery at 95amp should be 110amp. Went back to garage and eventually they got the correct rated battery. Battery management warning still on and losing charge overnight, down to 10% power in 8 hours!
I can't believe that this is just because it needs to be reset. Slightly worrying as we set off for two weeks in Austria in the early hours of Saturday morning and the Stealers can't get me in until Friday M.
Any ideas anyone?

Yes, I had the same problem when I recently changed the 4-year old battery in my A8. The Audi specialist (AVIT Slough) who did the work didn't know that the MMI needed to be updated with details of the new battery. Consequently, the battery status screen on the MMI showed an alarming drop in the "percentage charge" overnight, even after a good run. With the car stopped and radio on, I also got system messages saying that various circuits would be shut down if the engine wasn't started immediately. Sometimes showed only 10% battery charge, but there wasn't any problem starting the car. Took it back to the Audi specialist who eventually worked out how to program the MMI with the new battery details and all was OK. I'm surprised that they didn't know about this. Sounds like your dealer has a similar knowledge deficit!
