Hi all,

Just a quick query: Girlfriend runs a 51 Leon TDI 90 that needs a cam belt change and a basic service.

Main dealer quoted circa £600, but I've no idea if this is about market price confused

If that's a bit steep, more than happy to take it to an independent if there's anybody who can recommend one in the Epsom/Guildford/South West London region.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated,

Thanks.

Get it to an independant mate.

Dealer service history on a '51 plate motor is nonsense to be honest. The car won't be worth any more for having spent the extra compared to a good independant.

£600 does sounds about right for a dealer, about what I was quoted for my Leon Cupra R for a cambelt/waterpump (recommended) change.

I paid £350 in the end at JBS Auto's in Chesterfield.

Thats steep !

I had my cam-belt done (110bhp 1.9TDi Toledo - same engine & car) about 18 months ago at the main Seat dealer in Canterbury & I'm sure I had change from £250.

I'll try and find the receipt in the morning

Ok, my "80k service" which was the service, cam belt and brake fluid change was £460. I'm fairly sure they quoted £230 just for the cam belt change.....

This was done at Barretts Seat in Canterbury (Kent)in April last year.....
