Unfortunately not the kind you get coming off the rear spoiler from going sooooo fast you feel giddy but the air-con type.. Got an issue, after driving for a couple of hours with the air-con on (cool and seemingly working fine) I get white vapour pouring out of the vents. Normally I would think cool, turn up the stereo and blast out Tiesto Adagio for String (classic track) and break out the laser but I'm thinking this isn't right?!..

Seriously though it's done this now a couple of times but only on long journeys, cools fine until the vapour, no funny smells etc.. Any ideas?.. Thanks..

Its water vapour, its due to the himidity in your car and the vast temperature difference of the a/c and the temperature of the air in the car.

Nothing to worry about...

Why does it stop cooling when I get the vapour?!.. Okay if I switch it off for a bit..

Why does what stop cooling?

I think you will find it is still cooling its just that the temperature difference has decreased to almost nil, i.e. the temperature in the car is almost at the desired temperature. But you dont normally get the vapour then, or do you?

The water vapour is more likely warm air coming into the cold air in the car and as it cools too, the moisture drops out.

You seem to have an intermittent fault with the aircon which occasionally stops cooling, so feeding warm air into the car.

If the aircon has been on for a while, there won't be excessive moisture in the car, it is coming in when the aircon stops working.

Get the aircon running and then switch it off leave the fan on. Do you get the same effect? (I know if you do that with a good system you certainly get all the dampness coming from the air being fed into the car).

I have never sen a correctly functioning system give off vapour.
