Corrado VR6/VR6 Storm
Discussion
A few years ago I worked for Volkswagen and had 5-6 Corrado's as company cars, I loved them to bits.
Now they are getting on a bit, what goes wrong with them ?
Is it worth the extra £1000-1500 for the Storm model ?
I see a few of the Corrado's on the market have Porsche alloy wheels, do these fit straight on ?
And also, I have seen a very few have A/C, from memory I can't remember this being a factory option ?
Thanks for any advice.

The Storm is just paint, interior trim and leather. The important bits like engine, suspension, seats, wheels and body are the same as the standard VR6.
I had air-con on my RHD VR6. IIRC it was only factory-fitted on the LHD models. I believe all RHDs with air-con were done after-market. It is nice to have as the big lump up front does radiate a bit of heat.
I'm not aware of any problems to look out for. There are some autos out there, although most are manual.

Not sure about mechanical probs except you need to listen out for a rattly timing chain, quite pricey to change.
Things I do know about first hand from the two Corrado's I've owned are, spoiler not working via the speed sensitive bit, sunroof only tilting and the internal fan speed switch not working very well, that is a cheap fix I believe.
As for is it worth the extra, I'd have to say no, IMO the storm wheels aren't very nice compared to the standard 5 spokes and leather was available on any model, it's only the the blue that was a special colour if memory serves as the green was a standard colour.

Who cares about AC? The last thing you want in a VR is the windows up lessening the sound of the engine!
I'd guess get the lowest mileage one pos, mine was a K plate with about 112000 miles and FSH was great mechanically but needed a little bit of work on the outside, but only the roof and the rear panel with the badges on painting.
There was a 33K mile grey one on here a little while ago for about £8K but thats probably a bit extreme, I'd guess around the £4-£5K mark for a good one.
