Can it be done? Or vice versa, upgrading a VRS to 4x4?

Was thinking about this the other day and how good one of these could be, with the VRS suspension setup couple with the 4x4 and a haldex controller (assuming that's the system these use!) but I have never heard it done.

Best way is to mod a 4x4 upwards, as to change a VRs to 4wd would be an expensive change. The 4x4 suspension and braking system has much in common with TTs and S3s as well as the other VAG 4x4 cars so it's a comparitively easy thing to do, as is the 1.8T engine so there's a multitude of potential swaps that could be done.

There was a fella on uk-mkivs.net who had a 4x4 estate which pushed out over 300bhp, VRs bumpers and R32 interior made it a very nice machine. He also used a skoda site (briskoda maybe?) so a look on those two may show up some more info.

That sounds interesting! I'm thinking of buying an Impreza soon but just having a little think outside of the box about what else is possible.
