I've seen an A6 quattro I like the look of, but its a 2.4 which seems a bit weak for this car, has anyone got any experience of one ? It seems to have been a slow seller and info is hard to find even for performance / mpg etc which doesn't bode well, but it looks lovely and the price is right..

If fuel economy and performance don't figure highly in your priorities then a nicely specced 2.4 is a bargain - very smooth engine.

Thanks for the reply - sadly both do matter, but the price must have been right as the dealer sold the car yesterday ! I'll have to keep looking for a better compromise, cheers

The 3.0 litre might be a better bet. My 3.0 quattro sport A6 was quite a good car although there were times when even that felt underpowered. It's a fairly heavy car after all. MPG was around 26/27 during the two years I owned it.

A good site for manufacturers data is Wisebuyers http://www.wisebuyers.co.uk/motoring/car-specifica...

2.4 is pretty smooth, but economy was never their strong point. Mate has a saloon A6 2.4, he reckons he can just about get into the 30s.

I'm driving around in a 1.9TDi Avant A6 - it never feels particularly underpowered, and a 50mpg average in a car that size ain't at all bad!
