Hi all

My wife's A3 has an age-old looking Nokia car kit, one which is wired into the stereo. Much like this on the right:-

Can i do anything with it? Buy adapters for other newer Nokia's? Or am i as well to scrap it and get the space back?

I had the same problem, same effing Nokia car kit. I didn't look too hard into the options but I doubt there's anything that can be adapted. Consider that recent Nokia phones: have no external aerial connection; smaller power plug; audio via jack rather than flat contacts.

Be prepared for:
a) taking most of your lower dash apart and hoping that the installer wasn't muppet enough to break trim clips
b) cursing every time you see the holes left by the self tappers
c) a scarcely believable pile of spaghetti once you've got it all out

Grrr. I wouldn't mind but it wasn't even illegal to phone & drive when these kits were about.

I would get rid, more hassle then they are worth.

Get a Bluetooth one, they work well and dont take any space, I have a Parrot one that clips on my air vents. Nothing else.

do you want bluetooth? if so follow the wire to the control box, and it should be a straight plug and play swap with a nokia ck-1w or ck-7w or similar, THBury use the same plugs as well. parrot kits are different connectors though.
The nokia kits are dirt cheap off ebay and work great with compatible phones, but sound a bit echoey on certain phones like samsungs and older htc models which don`t differentiate between headset and car bluetooth profiles properly as per the bluetooth specs.

chances are the cradle was fitted with a no holes bracket - common in co. cars
