I thought I'd give you an update. The manual and service history still have not arrived even though I called the service manager last saturday, and he said it should be with us by Tuesday, nothing! I'm going to ring him tomorow and have some serious words. We've since discovered that all of the car has been re-sprayed, this from a reliable garage. We noticed when we took the 1.6 badge off that they're was more paint around where the 1.6 badge was (if that makes sense) and not the other way round as it should have been. The car mechanically seems to be ok although the exhaust rattle which developed since has been categorised as a characteristic of the car. He's selling the car midway through the warranty to save him any further hassle. The whole experience has made me and him think twice about buying a car from the main dealers again.
