Scirocco lead time and the R version
Discussion
I've enquired about ordering a Scirocco sometime in the near future. Had a test drive in the 197 bhp 2.0 TSI and found it does everything I want, very well indeed.
I sat down and spoke to the salesman, who after a few phone call informed me of a 28 week wait time for a new one from order time. Now I'm not in a mad rush and was looking at changing just after Christmas, but 28 weeks would take me into April, which got me thinking. When is the Scirocco R version released? I'm very tempted to stick my order in for one of these instead.
Before its mentioned, yes it has to be new as its part funded by my employers who insist on it.

I've got the 2.0 TSI and love it to bits!
The R20 comes out next month I believe but will retail at 27k(ish) add a few extras then this will be over 30k!!!
I got mine for 19k which I thought was amazing deal on a new car/model.
If you look on here they are going for 19k-23k second hand.....
Why not look for a car that is "in the system" that's what I did. Had a test drive found one that was
very close to my spec then 3 weeks later on the 1st March took delivery - Nice.
Have a look on www.sciroccocentral.co.uk
Hope this helps a bit.
Cheers

Ive got the 2.0 tsi on order ordered mid july coming mid novemember, you need to find a dealer that has allocation with one in the system that can be adjusted, thats what i did and it cuts down the wait quite a bit.
good luck with it mate, they are very nice cars imo.
What colour/options did you go for Scott???good luck with it mate, they are very nice cars imo.

From what I understand from http://www.scirocconet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f... the long lead times may not apply to the R. VW have put aside allocation for a few hundred cars. Remember these are higher margin vehicles and they need to get some on the roads. Many will go as demonstrators and a lot of people have put deposits for a place in the queue so it might be worth asking your dealer.
In Germany the have the R on the VW website which can be speced up so just keeping an eye out to when first deliveries arrive there,
