My nearside auto dimming mirror sometimes does not dim, how do you test them?

Torch on the sensor?

I think you'll also need to cover the sensor at the front of the mirror that senses if it is nighttime or not.

When I put the car in the garage the center rear view & offside mirrors dim but the nearside doesnt I need to check the wiring to the nearside mirror, cause audi want £167 just for the glass! So I need to be sure before I order it.
