Hello.

I have a Golf 1.8t which my Mrs runs. However, I jumped in the other day and it doesn't seem to drive like it used to !?

Basically, I can feel a slight hesitation in 1st and 2nd when the engine is cold. It only happens at low engine speed too.

Any ideas?

Two culprits for poop running on a 1.8T motor are the air flow meter (which you can disconnect and test drive without to see if it's the problem), when this is on the way out it can make the engine feel lethargic and lazy. The diverter valve wearing can cause all manner of odd behaviour when the engine tries to come on boost.

So the problem occurs solely in 1st and 2nd and only when the engine is cold?

Cheers, I'll look into that.

Yeah, haven't noticed at all in 3rd but runs absolutely fine once warmed up.

If it's purely on a cold start then coolant temp sensors is cheap and more likely.
