Glowplug light flashing

I have a 2000 Audi A4 with a 115PD engine.
On a couple of occasions when in traffic or waiting for the lights, the glowplug light has started flashing, the car has continued to run fine and once moving using some boost has made the light go off.
The car starts with no problems.
Any ideas why this may happen, the car has just has a fuel filter and engine oil and filter and runs ok, lots of grunt even when light is flashing.
