Right, I've had one of these fitted and it seems pants.

It disables the touch or clickwheel, so to change anything you need to disconnect the iPod beforehand. Which lives in the glovebox on a very short cable.

If I use the CD+ CD- softkeys on the Concert head unit, it only gives me the option of cycling through 6 albums (out of hundreds) and there's no logic as to why it's these 6.

Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to change how my iTunes library is set up?

Help!

From memory (and I stress I could be VERY wrong), depending on the age of your car (and therfore headunit) what the "ipod connector" is actually doing is plugging into the CD multi changer socket of your head unit - and thereby fooling the headunit that you have a 6cd changer. Which is why you only get the first 6 albums.

Unfortunately, I think you're right and that it's pants. I had the exact same problem in my old Exige and found that unplugging it and plugging it in again was the only way.

album 6 should be the entire ipod contense.

Should say in the instructions some advise about making 5 albums or plays lists for best results.

Its pants like that because it can only work by fooling the head unit into thinking is a 6 disk CD changer.

The latest cars can have AMI with allows better ipod function.

First six saved playlists usually.

I always stress to customers that it is merely an ipod connector and not full integration.

what make is the connector

if its genuine Audi the your stuffed it will lock the iPod giving disk 1 - 5 first 5 playlists you may be able to down load the Dension firmware and squirt it in as the Audi unit is essentially a Dension product..

if it is a Dension you can have it the same as the Audi ie locked or un locked. From memory to un lock select disk 6 scroll to track 3 and then press and hold the track up arrow for 2 > 3 sec's this should unlock the iPod and give you back the use or your click wheel repeat the same but use track 2 to relock the iPod..

Either way it sounds like it dose use the CD port so there will be no chance of any text on the screen unless your car has MMI new A4 A5 6 8 Q7 5 etc (running on a MOST BUS)

If it is a Dension kit then there should be a load of cable behind the glovebox as the standard lead is about 2ft long ish

Hopefully I should have a backwards reto kit for AMI to RNS-E etc I am currently working on this for Lamborghini's and Bentley GT.. Audi will be the same as the Lambo one..

Hope this helps

We can already do proper ipod integration for RNS-E; uses an Alpine ipod kit with a canbus adapter and clever wiring loom.

Gives you full video integration too smile

I know that can be done but this will be genuine Audi / Lamborghini for those that want OEM stuff

The Alpine is a good option though with the Video function

I don't like it much either, its a bit of a rubbish system. As mentioned, CD6 should be the whole iPod, CD1-5 will be the first 5 playlists you have. Its better than nothing I suppose.
