A2 1.4 petrol - excessive oil consumption
Discussion
Oh sugar. I hope it isn't the rings
Can't quite understand spending more than a grand or two on a small car when you can buy a big engined one for next to nothing and spend the extra on running costs. Still there you go, at least it leaves lots of cheap fast and/or posh cars for us real men

You really have to ask? Yes that's mental for a modern car, something is amiss.
For this type of engine it seems high but that certainly isn't excessive for a lot of modern engines, performance cars in particular. Something like an RS4 can easily drink a litre in 1,000 miles.Well, it appears I may be a monkey's uncle.
I've never had to put that much oil in any modern car, my MGB was another matter.
Still seems like a lot though, putting oil in every five fill-ups. Audi's 1 litre per 1000km means topping-up the oil every two or three times you fill-up! Some mishtake surely? Not sure I would be happy with a car that needed that.
