B6 S4 (or A4) sidelight bulb changing?
Discussion
Hi all you wonderfully knowledgable people!
The left (passenger) side parking light (or side light to you and I) bulb has blown in my car - and looking in the manual it says it's so very difficult, I need to get Audi to do it.
However, I've looked under the bonnet and under the big plastic cover and it doesn't look TOO bad - does anyone have a link to a bulb change procedure? Iv'e googled my heart out but everything I've found leads to a dead end unforuntely.
Any advice much appreciated!
Thanks
T

Tony its a walk in the park if you have the right screwheads for it if its the headlight that is of course? Simply the headlight units have 4 screws each two on top and two within the engine bay with hex type heads.
Undo top 2 and on passenger side as you look into the engine bay behind the headlight unit at the bottom on left and right hand side there is a screw each side. Loosen them do not remove them and then pull whole unit out. Takes two minutes.
I live in canters and have nothing booked for tomorrow as yet so could pop by and show you how its done if you wish (providing i dont get called out of course) but you will have to supply the bulb
Whatever you do dont let someone charge you for it or ask the boys at halfruads as they may do damage or drop a bolt or something stupid like that.

Excellent, thanks James! I'll give it a go myself at the weekend, good to know it's not too difficult - certainly will have the hex screwheads in the garage somewhere.
Nevertheless thanks very much for the offer - most kind - and if I come across any troubles I'll be sure to shout
Oh it's the sidelight by the way if you see what I mean - not the main headlight (which is Xenons)

I did it last weekend without removing the headlight in about 2 mins, take the plastic cover off that side of the engine bay and the headlight unit rear is easily accesible, open the clip, take off the plastic cover, and the sidelight holder just pulls out of the unit, the sidelight bulb is a twist to remove type, the drivers side is much more of a problem I found,

I had my the driver's side headlamp out of mine last night and there were only three screws - two on the top and only one (long) on the back within the engine bay.
Hmmm sounds odd as you shouldnt have had any out other than the two on top as the ones in the engine bay at the back of the unit or merely for adjustment and only need loosening so you can slide the unit out.Tallbut Buxomly said:

Really impressed - obviously changed both, but for comparison purposes I took this photo (only with my phone unfortunately) and you can see the difference. This is just the side lights, remember;

To change - the passenger side is really easy, and the driver's side requires taking the airbox feed off (2 easy to access screws) and is a little bit more fiddly, but doable.
Thanks for the tips/advice all
