Hi

Something weird is happening to my car.
On the way back from work, the indicators stopped working, the left arrow or right arrow on the dash were light up but not flashing as per normal. I thought it might be a bulb which was out.

Arrived home puts the hazard lights on to check all the bulbs and the 6 of them were flashing.
Turned the hazard lights off then indicated left and the indicators worked for a few seconds then stopped working then indicated right the indicator stopped working.
Turned the hazard light back on for about five second, turned them off, indicated right and the indicator worked for about 5 second.
Did the same test for the left indicator and the same thing happened.

It seems the only way the indicators would work is if the hazard light were on for more than a few second.

Has someone had the same problems? Is it an easy fix or a garage trip?

Thank for the help

Very common, needs a hazard light switch.

Unless its an A2 then it needs the flasher relay which isnt built into the switch like all the other Audi's.

Cheers TT

It's an A6 2003
Do you have the part number for it and a guide on how do change it by any chance?

Cheers

My brother had a simular issue with his Leon Cupra...he asked at a local garage and a quick blast with the air line around the column and stalks and a spray of electrical contact cleaner and all was working fine again and has been fine for about six months now.
