Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this I have the 1.4MPI auto, recently it has a very strong petrol smell coming through the vents(with the blower on), I have check all the pipes etc, but no obvious leaks

Also the MPG has gone down to about 26mpg at best. Anyone know what the cause could be and if its related? The car is old and auto so maybe the MPG is down to that?

Freind of mine had the petrol smell problem with his, from what I remember it was quite an easy fix, I'll ask him about it...

If you've got a fuel leak (potentially) and can't find it easily get it to a garage, get it on the ramps and have someone find the leak before it catches fire! Please!

Duff Lambda sesnor, but you should have an engine management light on the dash? If its does'nt like starting hot then its a water temp sensor, the ecu one.

I have access to a ramp and we couldnt find anything, its old but I dont really want to scrap it as apart from this its a good car and I am sure its got at least a years worth of use left, no warning lights on the dash, and it was fully serviced a few months ago

Strange :s

It's not something daft like a blocked or snagged breather on the tank is it?

Had this problem on a Polo. Under the air filter box there is a rubber pipe that had come off. You dont have to take anything to bits, just have a look around that area and all it needs is to be cable tied on.
