VW dash symbol question

After 6 months with my 2004 Bora, I've still not got around to getting the instruction manual - so can someone tell me what the significance is of a beep and snowflake symbol coming up? Its happened a couple of times (both when the outside temp has been pretty low) and I was curious what it meant - whether its just a general warning that its cold and not to rag the engine too much, or some form of warning light about a specific problem.

Anyone know?

Potential ice warning..

It simply means it's dropped to 4 degress outside.

It also turns off your air conditioning compressor (to stop it freezing itself), and can fking steams all your windows up!

+1 on the above, just essentially a low temperature warning.
