RNS-E and my Iphone
Discussion
Hi
I've just got an 05 plate S4 cab. Which is an awesome car. Albeit the convertible aspect is somewhat moot at the moment. (Where is the winter sun eh?)
Anyway. I'm curious about the bluetooth connectivity.
The car has RNS-E with a mobile phone cradle (original I think). I can pair my 3g iphone to it. But, it acts as little more than a glorified speaker. The contacts and call history etc. don't seem to be usable. Should they? I have seen clips on youtube with people syncing and instantly being able to browse though contacts and when an incoming call come in it will show a name and not just the number like mine. The message on the head unit is simply use phone(or similar) It does at the top of the display show that I'm on 02
Other bits..I have set the phone to share contacts. My steering wheel isn't a multi-function one.
What can I do to get it connected fully?

I don't imagine it would make a difference - the Audi website lists compatible phone firmware versions but not the nav firmware.
Might be worth getting in a quick call to your local main dealer to ask what the latest version is and what an upgrade would cost.
New nav discs include later RNSE software too.
