So, after buying the iPhone, I have now realised that it does not support remote sim (RSAP) I don't even know whether Apple will make this feature for the future..

All I would say is those looking for an iPhone, be aware that it does not have this function. Which means you can only connect via bluetooth, which frankly does not give a great network reception, as opposed to using the car ariel and phone book function on the remote sim feature.. How can a premium phone not have this feature is beyond me...maybe I am expecting a little too much...

Not sure if others have experienced the same?

How do you do that? I have the High prep phone, where I can slide a sim inside it, located in armrest which is allot of hassle everytime I go into the car to take the sim out of the phone etc..

If you are an Orange Business customer, you can get a second SIM for the car. You can also load the contacts from your sim into the car's phone book.

I have phone high and it is a pain without the second sim. Is there a later version that doesn't need a sim inserted in the car? Is it available as an upgrade to earlier cars?

Aaaaah you've a 'one of those' - you can (as above) get a 2nd sim or if not available from your network get a freeby pay as you go sim and set up a divert for when your phone is switched off.

If you've a cradle rather than the sim slot/privacy handset then the adapter cradle is about £100.

Thanks for the advice guys... You would have thought a £400 device should be able to match some of features a Nokia offers and bluetooth SAP being one of them. The iPhone - Jack of all trades, master of none...

I have an A6 with MMI and that comes with an adapter in the armrest to add different chargers, I don't use it I have my iphone plugged into the ipod cable which does the charging and then connect via bluetooth, I get full address book etc.

I think that I have to make sure it had my contacts on the phone though, wouldn't read them off the sim, which is where I normally store them all.

This is what I will have to do with mine.. Speaking with the Audi dealer service dept, it is amazing how many people no nothing about remote sim access, just goes over their heads. The quality is far superior to a standard bluetooth connection. The technology is their, I guess people don't know how to use it..
