I like Eagle F1 GSD3 and Continental Contact sport 3 - in VFM terms been very impressed with Avon ZZ3 which is significantly cheaper.

hello this is my first posting! I have an A3 2.0tdi sportsback and regarding tyres i found the BF GOODRICH(made by MICHELIN) G-GRIP an excellent performance tyre with great road handling at an amazing price. I just bought 4 new 205 55 16 91v for £215 fitted from SAXON GATE MOTORIST CENTRE in biggleswade, hertfordshire.01767 314125.give them a call you will be very surprised!hope this helps

I had 16 inch Eagle GSD3's on my 99 1.8T A3 Sport and quite frankly they were rubbish, seriously dissappointing. The Pirelli P6000 before were much better.

GSD3's are old skool. Asymmetric's are the way forward.

The Eagle GSD3 is prone to severe 'blocking' on this A3 / Golf platform which will give a bad bearing type noise. Any tyre with this excentuated arrow type tread will do it. Best stick to more conventional tread patterns.

Used to make this noise on my old TT after around 10k miles (they used to last around 15k). Mind you, I did put 3 sets on as they were a very good tyre, especially at £90 fitted for 225x40x18s. Assymetricals were just as good a tyre and they hadn't started making any noise when I traded the car in with around 13k on the tyres. Looked like they were going to last longer too. Worked out around a tenner a tyre more at my local fitters.
