Mk4 Golf steering wheel replacement

My Girlfriends '03 Golf Gti steering wheel looks far more worn than one should at 43k miles. I've suggested looking into replacing it so it falls into line with the condition of the rest of the car. Has anyone had this done? I realise it is not a DIY job but interested to know how much it could all cost. I'm asking a VW main dealer just for a laugh BTW.
