Boot will not close on 55 plate A6

Hi Guys any ideas of how to keep the boot lid locked and down, it will not close or lock. It leaves the boot open alarm running on the dash, tried several times and managed to keep it closed but the boot open symbol is still on at the dash. Thanks Luke

Maybe a stupid question but has the boot catch closed without the boot latch being there so to speak?

What I mean is that the latch on the body of the car clicked across without the boot part of the latch being engaged?

Have checked that. I think the boot mechanical bits have failed in the boot lid, if I close the latch with a screwdriver I can override the arm and open the boot again if I pull on the driver.

Had one doing just that the other day, you need a new latch in the boot lid.
