More likely to be in the region of £200 - £250 as normally you would also change tensioner and water pump

Worth asking around, my lad had that done on his Polo last year and the VW dealer was the cheapest

What engine is it? My 56 plate Polo with a 1.9 tdi engine cost £300 for the cambelt and an extra £100 for the water pump. This was from a main dealer on their fixed price service menu thing. My local independant garage couldn't get close to that price.

I had my 1.9TDI Polo done for £340 a couple of weeks ago (including water pump), they`re about 100 yards away from the VW dealer in Salisbury and have a good reputation. The dealer showed me the fixed price menu thing and admitted he couldn`t match the indy.

I had a 10,000 miles service just prior to Christmas and the indy was only 38p cheaper than the dealer that time.
