Right then bought a 4gb sd card to load music on and play in the R8 but it only supports 256mb cards well thats what the instructions say. It actualy has two slots for two cards ..........anyway it wont read it I have checked its a "FAT" process what ever that is .....and its Audis recomend bit rate of at least 160kbits which I have set in the "properties" of the sd card but still nothing ....theres only 7 songs on the card as iam just trying to get something to play !! any ideas ? ?

Does the card say high speed or SDHD on it/similar?

Cards need to be >4gb but not high speed, just really cheap old school slow plain Jane SD. 2gb cards seem to be a better bet most of the time.

The R8 RNS-E unit will accept SD cards but not SDHC cards.

You can use 1Gb, 2Gb and 4Gb cards, but the maximum number of files per card is 512.

You don't set the bitrate in the card properties, but in your PC or mac media player software BEFORE you import your CD or download your music files.

You need to format the Card FAT32

Card needs to be less that 4GB

Makes sure the songs you put on it are mp3 with a bit rate of 320 or less. The bit rate is the rate of compression of the music so if its 128 it wont sound as good at 192, but if you have paid for bose or B&O or somthing then you will get the benefit of 320kbps and that the one to use.

It you having trouble, try that 256 card you had in the draw, if it works with the same 7 songs on it, the format of the card is the fault.

If the 256 card still doesnt work, its the type of file you are putting on it that wrong.

In WMPlayer when you set up the options for ripping one of the options is bit rate. I use 192.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a software upgrade to the MMII system to be able to accept SDHC cards? Just wondering before I go and purchase 2 x 2GB SD cards.
