Im having an issue with my Audi A6 2006 2.0TDI where it sounds like there is no exhaust attached to the car I.E it actually sounds like a tractor. It was running fine a couple of days ago but during a routine drive it backfired and started making this terrible sound
I've narrowed the sound down to the area in the picture below. The pipe is not connected to anything. It seems like there is a part missing?

Theres nothing missing? Your EGR cooler pipes just snapped off at the join. It comes as the complete cooler ut you could possibly weld it.

Seems to be comming more common this problem - but as said previously, it comes as a complete EGR Cooler and is most likely a dealer only part...

Thanks for the responses guys. I thought there was a part missing as the pipe wouldn't quite twist into the hole.
I will try the welding - I presume it has to come off for it to be welded. Is it dangerous to drive like this?
