I have a precat dash which has the clock hole cut to the slightly larger size of the fuel / temp / oil pressure gauges.
I didn't realise the clock hole was bigger when I sent it for veneering banghead

It is brand new veneer by James at TVR Mads. It has never been fitted or had clocks attached so there are no brackets or MIL bar fitted.
In all other respects it is the same as a pre-cat dash. ie with clock bezels which fit flush to the dash, not raised bezels as with the later cars.

It is a very dark veneer with a slight red veining in bright light, otherwise it looks almost piano black.

If you're considering deleting the clock and putting in something else - say an oil temp gauge then contact me for more information.

I'd put this as a For Sale but its a bit odd so needed a bit of explanation. If this upsets anyone, please delete it and let me know and I'll attempt to sort something out for the classifieds.

Hey Ian hope you are well.

Unfortunatley your dash will not fit mine but I would love to see a picture of it as the colour you describe the veneer sounds really nice.

I hereby revoke everything I said earlier until I can make up my ruddy mind what I'm doing with this.

And thanks to Moose for pointing out the blindingly ruddy obvious and I should just buy a new clock banghead

Guys,

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread, but this is doing my head in.

I've still got this nicely veneered dash wrapped up in the kitchen and the old painted dash is still in the car.

I want to get this sorted and get the new dash in, but haven't been able to find a clock - or any other gauge for that matter - with a 58mm bezel that will fit into the hole in the dash.

I'm happy to do the research, but can't think of anywhere else to look
Can anyone suggest where I might be able to find a clock or oil temp gauge with 58mm bezel?

Ta.

Would it be possible to open up the hole for a slightly bigger clock? There a few 60mm ones on ebay.

Or there's this http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugedetail.aspx?ref=...

66mm clock

Brilliant TV8. That was the kind of inspiration I was hoping for, Thank you very much

I've dropped Alan a long waffly email explaining the situation. Hopefully he'll have some ideas and give me a ring.

No worries - I hope he can help you. At some point, I am going to see if he can match me up an oil temp guage to the other dials.
