Starter, starting delay!
Discussion
Hello guys, is it normal for a Griffith to start its engine after a 2-3second of whirring on the starter motor, hot or cold. This happens even after a full prime on the fuel pump. After priming and max fuel pressure build up, one expects it to start imediately. Why the delay? We did not expeience this with old SU Carb days. It was near instant with less wear on the starter motor as a result. Is the ECU on TVRs lazy in sending the sparks through, or is it initial over priming due to leaky injectors etc? After starting, hot or cold, the tick over is a steady 900. Anybody out there with a Griff that starts imediately after priming. Would like to hear.
Thanks to everybody, an instant prompt start of an answer!. A sensible good answer, less wear on the bores, cam and crank. Another fine day at Chatsworth. Would not mind paying £5 for the Duke and £5 for the club. Duxford in August meet charge £9. Shuttleworth (Great Southern Gathering) I think £20.
