Thats a fair price for the miles but is it enough miles?

Check out my threads in here since I asked every question there was!

Also go to shpubs website
look in the FAQs, there is a Griff buying guide thats pretty useful.

also, YHM.

Mail would have gone home...(Doh)

I'm only going to give it a good tyre kicking...

It is tempting...
I'll let you know how it goes.

Looks like it may have potential, realistic price, but......with mileage like that it may well have sat around for long periods of time, something my car has always sulked about, don't know, check outriggers, suspension arms, wear of and type/speed rating of tyres, always a good indication of set up and or use.

Check for traces of leaks in cooling system, see if it has twin fan conversion, that the ECU hasn't been sat in puddles of water, seat mounting bolts always a good indication of this. Leave it to tick over for long enough to kick the fans in, if temp stays constant or goes down it's probably fine.

Exhaust manifold blowing/cracked is quite common.

Very stiff steering when driving is not good.

Other than that it's much the same as any car really.

Check all electrics work as some things are harder to fix than others come MOT time, ie a rear light not working isn't always just a bulb, could be corroded wiring.

>> Sorry, just seen you have an S, so you probably know most of this anyway, the thing I would be most concerned about is the lack of miles.

I spotted this the other day and thought it sounded great VFM - dealer (trader) back-up / security too. Try as I might (and I've tried very hard!) I can't see anything amiss in the photos. Even the splitrims look alright. You'd have thought having bought a 4.3 I'd stop obsessing about whether I got the best for the budget...

Please kick the tyres hard and tell me the vibrations cause the worn engine to fall out of the bent chassis revealing papier mache exhaust manifolds.

Make sure all the switches and buttons work - esp heating/ventilation.

Says it has 8 stamps in the service book. At 22,000 miles I'm assuming the previous owners have gone for the yearly option rather than mileage intervals. That means it may have been used infrequently but you've probably guessed that already! Even so for a 1993 wouldn't it have needed 10/11 yearly services?

Dave

Added - Someone more knowledgeable than me will also be able to tell you if it has the original 4.X front end. Some have been in smashes and the only replacement is the newer 500 front.

Cheers chaps...

Its been a year since I kicked a few tyres and asked those stupid questions, the ones you already know the answer to but want to know if the seller does

It will be interesting what he will offer for me on the 'S'

It has - but that doesn't mean it wasn't smashed and replaced when old ones were all that was available.

Pretty much identical to mine, except mine was at 34,000 miles. It actually seems a very reasonable price for a dealer at first glance.

I wouldn't let low mileage put you off. If it's in good condition with good history and everything works, go for it. I only do <3,000 miles a year in mine and it's fine.

Right....

The report....

I drove into the dealers , narrowly avoiding some numpty pulling out in a Nova....

Parked up, walked in, Saw the Griff...

What I expected, looked good, crack in windscreen, usual creases in the leather......

Salesman comes out....

"Are you interested in the TVR?"

"Yes"

"Sorry mate we've just sold it.....! You are probably lucky you didn't crash into him on your way in......"

The buyer paid full price 12k...

Oh well, I'll keep an eye out....

Podie....

You are only being like this 'cos you want one.....

It was a '4.3 early model' not the 500....

Anyway us 'S' boyz are taking up precious Griff space on their forum.....

As Arnie said.......

"I'll be back"
