Removing central control panel

Hi There,
What would be the best way to remove the central panel (with heater and windows controls). My last attempt was to try to remove the T-piece, but it does not help fully as the handbrake is on the way...
I have a Griff 94.

That's pretty much the same way I removed mine. Loosen off the handbrake (handbrake adjuster is under the car next to the Diff, behind the driver side rear wheel) and the handbrake lever should pull up almost vertical. As I understood it, this method should allow you to completely remove the T-piece. Mine didn't come off completely, but it did allow me to pull the T-piece back far enough to allow me to get a (10mm I think)socket, using the screwdriver extension, up the side of the heater panel end of the T-piece. I could also get my hand under the panel guide the socket and catch the nut and washers if they fell. It also helps if the window switches are out as it gives you some visibility with regards the retaining nuts.
