Well I put my Griff in for its MOT yesterday, and sadly it failed.

Seems that being in a garage in the dry every night since I have had it has not managed to keep the lovely spectre of rust at bay. Looks like I need some new outriggers and the mount for the passenger seatbelt is shot also. There were some other bits too, but to be honest I was not listening after the first bit.

So im awaiting an estimate of how much this is going to cost, and as I have spent a lot of money getting married end of April, it does not bode well for having it done for the summer.

Just thought I would share my major disappointment with someone.

It was corroded bad enough to fail, so im assuming it it terminal.

I've long been a believer that leaving a TVR out is better than keeping it indoors.
The chassis on mine was in remarkably good nick considering its 19 years and 120k miles - left out in all weathers for the last ten years that I know of - earlier owners may have garaged it. A bit of wind, whipping around and through the chassis and less condensation are contributing factors, I believe. When they're garaged wet the moisture has nowhere to go.

Feel your pain too mate. Mine has just had exactly the same thing happen to it and I had mine done by HHC and as has been said no longer a body off job. Just something I really hadn't budgeted for this year. Hope you get sorted quickly and back on the road.

Mine does not usually go out in the wet, so is 99.99% of the time bone dry.

All those who have had it done, could you pm me a rough cost ? It is just the timing that causes issues. Wedding cost more than I expected and now this.

Im not too good at washing it to be honest. Usually only clean the wheels and if the car does get cleaned it is before it goes out, not on return.

Think sportmotive do it for about 1700 ish, body on.

Thanks for all the costs and sympathy. The car is with Dulford so its in good hands. Will get the cost on monday when Richard returns from race support. I shall stay in and drink only water with my bread over the weekend, that should help a little.
