I've been rumbling on about my next TVR for some while. Part of me wants to keep the Griff for the many more miles of which it's capable; part of me says it's time to start planning the move in conjunction with having a Eurobox for everyday. (It's all Shnozz's fault for pointing out how cost effective it could be to run a TVR as a second car.)

Quite agree.. I use my MkII GTi as work horse.. 500 for occasionaly work & play. Really does make a huge difference.

moi??? I admit its not easy climbing into a tin top as against a TVR at first but then the first trip to a shite neighbourhood or in the pissing rain and you will remember why its such a good idea
Got agree strongly with one of Shnozzs points there.
I dont ever even park the Griff at the roadside let alone leave it in a shite area.
However, this is one thing that a plain looking Golf can do which a Griff can't.

My circumstances have changed and where I used to be pretty particular and choosey about where I went and parked - combined with the need to eat motorway miles (and not be half deaf and exhausted from the noise!) - the sensible car plus fun car route will be right for the new situation.
I'd been quite happy knowing how expensive each mile was in the Griff, because it is so enjoyable. Mostly I was doing medium distances, not too short, not too long and only 16,000 in a year.
But Shnozz posted a logical argument recently that my head finally latched onto after three and a half years of heart-rule!!!
Now, I can honestly say that I have no regrets as to the cost (including depreciation) of running him everyday - and would still advocate it to anybody considering it!

Mucho appreciated! Although I am honest enough to point out that I haven't done anything cosmetically to the Griff. So there's a factoring in of a front end respray. I was torn between doing it and asking more or showing any potential buyer what it really looks like and letting them get it done - any thoughts? (DustyC as the professional Griff buyer that you undoubtedly are!)

If I was looking for a griff and I came across one that was stone chipped it would be a "con" against it where it could lose out to another.
If I saw a very nice looking shiny Griff then I'd be very interested from the start. Then Id look at the chassis and so on.
The Griff I bought had a front end respray and it does make the car look very tidy. It was probably this that drew me to the car the most in the first place. Then the fact that it was clean underneath too.
When writting this I took into account that yours is black and the stone chips may show even more.

Beano, it's not that bad having the TVR as a second car it makes finishing work and going home to take out THE car far more enjoyable especially if it's been a S**T day !! 
I go to work in my diesel Laguna and then come home to my Griff .....oh and my wife... and having the diesel means I can spend more on fuel for the Griff...oh yeah.

Dusty - where did you get this done and was it a good job? Did they spray the sills as well or just the doors? Info appreciated as mine could do with one too.

Look again at the quote. It was about £1000 in labour and then all the parts/paint etc were on top... Read about £1500-£2000 all in I think.

It was resprayed by Lake, the last owner.
The sills look remarkably good so I assume they were sprayed too. I'll have to check the photos taken during spraying to be sure.
As was said earlier though the respray wasnt the bargin price I first said so I wouldnt really recommend them.
