Lots of people do it with no problems.
One of the best front tyres I heard of was Goodyear F1 (GFSD3 or something like that, just makes sure its got a "3" in it!).
Apparently the F1's give excellent turn in and someone recommended S03's at the rear and the F1s up front.
I have S03's all round and love em.
I may be needing a new set of tyres shortly though. These track events cost more than you think!
Something to bear in mind is that you will need rears sooner than new fronts again so perhaps get something for the front which you will want all fround later.
