My Heaters won't blow cool air?
Discussion
You may find you don't need a replacement part. The stepper motor may have gone out of sync. listen in the passenger footwell to hear the motor working when you move the top left heater control. Once you have identified the correct valve, clamp the heater hoses either side of the valve. This will allow you to remove the heater valve and look through it to see if it is fully closing when in the cold position. If not, you can undo the grub screw that holds the valve onto it's shaft and rotate it and re tighten it in the correct position. Hope this helps reducing the cabin temperature. This worked with my 500. Not sure about Pre Cats. Craig

The Pre Cats apparently have a slightly different cooling arrangement to the Serpentine engines. So better not to fit a shut off tap as I have done in the top feed to the heater as this bypasses coolant when the heater is off. There is no bypass on the Serpentines so the valve does not affect anything.
Even with the motorised valve set up correctly, my heater still remained uncomfortably hot, many others on here also report similar problems. Funny thing, some cars seem OK but many complain of warm or hot air with heaters shut off.

My Griff was always hot, can't even work the heater controls, but since changing the heat shields by the manifolds, it's 20x better! To the extent that on a crisp winters morning I now need gloves and a hat!! Where the heat soak from the manifolds engine etc don't warm the car any more. If u can see the cloth and the foils all burnt away then changing will defo help. Does require manifolds to be removed though for a successful job.

My heat shields have seen better days, I will definitely give it a try.Gassing Station | Griffith | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
