Converting LHD Headlamps to RHD
Discussion
Hello fellow grifters! I've recently imported my first TVR to Sweden from your beloved country. A Griffith 500 HC '96. And I love every bit of it.
Now I just have to get the headlamps converted to RHD, to get it road legal in Sweden. Just a small problem, -How do I remove the lightcovers? I've removed the service hatches in the wheelarches, but the holes are too small to get the lamphouses out.
Does anyone have any ideas/info to share? Would be greatly appreciated!

Getting the headlamps out is a tricky business.
First, you need to unbolt the bar holding the back of the light assembly up, accessed from the wheel arch.
Then VERY carefully cut round the sikaflex sealant on the housing. It is really easy to damage the fibreglass or scratch the lights...
After this (probably a couple of hours the first time round), the light pod will rattle freely inside the wing.
Rotate the light pod towards the outside of the car, while pushing it back slightly. You can then pick the front edge up and remove the pod from the car.
The pod can then be dismantled and have the new light glass fitted. It is accessed from the front, so there's no alternative I can see to removing and dismantling the pods. (Someone please tell me if I'm wrong - I no longer have the standard lights)
Refitting is the reverse of removal, except you swear in different places, and get covered in sikaflex.

Just did the job myself when importing a car from UK to Luxembourg. It is doable - takes a lot of time and you have to be careful not to damage the cones when cutting the sikaflex.
I recommend when you refit the cones to use just a little sikaflex for holding them in place and then apply the finish later all the way around the cones.
I also had to change the rear number plate light. I bought lighting for a trailer which I glued using sikaflex to a plastic numberplate holder.

The dipped headlights on a Griff are so bad it probably wouldn't make a lot of difference whether you had lhd or rhd units in the pods. Why not take the opportunity to fit 7" units, a conversion kit is available for this, not tried it myself yet but people say it works well.
I have this kit but it has not been fitted yet as the car is still in its restoration process. It looks good quality and my mechanic said there would be no problem fitting it.Onno
