currently going round in circles once again as i try and make up my mind on larger wheels and tyres for the Griff.Last time i ended up fitting a 17" front et25 wheel and a 215x40 tyre to it as 225 didnt exist in a suitable profile.Whilst this combo worked very well it would seem that as time has passed the decent rubber choice has become even more limited than it was then,some 4 years or so ago.So now i'm thinking about 18" fronts with 225x35 rubber,but there might be a catch..... I have unassisted steering,so will i have trouble with fouling on or near maximum lock? Looking at a tyre size calculator a 225x35x18" is only 9mm larger diameter than a 225x50x15" which i know is fitted to pas equipped Griffs.My reasoning is that if anyone out there finds the 15" 225 fronts on an unassisted rack ok then i should be ok with the 225x18's ??? So does anyone out there run the 225's on an unassisted rack car without issues?

.It is a speed ratings thing I guess,but also I just wanted the handling to be like my last griff,which was amazing.On that car I had 18's on the rear(265x35),but 17's on the front(215x40).Now the 17" rubber is more limited I felt I should look at 18's on the front.A 225x35x18 on the front would also help keep the rake from rear to front.What do the folks with 18" spiders run on the front then?

The speed thing isn't an issue.
Insurers will agree with a Z rating or other as the cars won't / don't do the claimed speed.

Trouble with 35s is that there's no compliance.
There's less tyre wall and what there is, is stiffer.
Running 18s means full geo set up with ride/rakes set for new wheels.
This will remove wheel scrub on the tub and the stops can be modified to clear lock.
means smaller turning circle and the car sometimes higher, but no prob if rakes maintained.
Get the fronts to clear and adjust the rear from that.
