Hi has any got the part number for the water temp gauge the one that is at the front of the engine as i think mine is playing up , my temp gauge move,s as soon as i turn the key ,it move,s about half inch, and that is without the engine running ,i am not getting a true reading ,i know TVR gauge,s are not the best in the world but i should be getting a better reading than that i am not over heating ,i just got a new otter switch one that comes on at 80% the fans come on but the reading i am getting is about 100% by the gauge any help would be great thanks paul
It is a fairly standard part. Take it to a decent motor factor and they should be able to sell you one. Otherwise any of the normal TVR parts suppliers will also sell you one at about twice the price. It is effectively a temperature dependant variable resistor so you can test the gauge by fitting a variable resistor between the lead and the engine block to see if the needle moves as expected .You can test the sensor by connecting an ohm meter across the terminal and the body, pop it in a saucepan of water and monitor the resistance as you heat it.
