Team Fatty 2004 car unveiled!
Discussion
As promised on here a month or so back, here are a few pics of the car, following the most recent round of up-grades, with Caged and Peninsula.
Monster new wheels, which I just had to get to cram in the whacking, 305mm front brakes:
A full 'Caged' roll cage, because I came over all wimpy last season:
Hopefully
, I might be able to pedal this thing a little more quickly in the TVRCC Speed Champs now!
First outing, at Loton Park last month, was OK (considering it was on new tyres and I had to fiddle with the new dampers and learn the set-up. Off to Anglesey this Sunday for another bash.
Kind comments only please! I had my share of grief
from Mrs Digga when she saw my credit card statement.

from Mrs Digga when she saw my credit card statement.Gary, wheels are now 17" front and rear, but I've kept the tyre widths at 225 and 245 respectively. Only slight snag there is that on near full lock, the fronts rub the very lower rear part of the wheelarch.
As mentioned, it's early days yet. During a rather fraught morning practice at Loton, I had to call Peninsula, who with the help of Guy from Nitron, gave me the low down on the damper settings. There may also be a need to fit stiffer springs (fortunately for my marriage this isn't too costly!) as I have a suspicion that the rears are bottoming out under certain combinations of accelleration/gradient/bumps.
However, the tyres were (and still are really) a little too new, and probably need a bit more welly before they're up to their best.
Overall though
I'm very happy and the car feels a lot more communicative - even through my ham fists.

Can you post the spec of the brakes and tyres, please?
Tyres are the latest Goodyear D thingies (not too sure, but can check exacatly if you like).
The front brakes are HiSpec; www.f-inbigbrakes.co.uk/ running EBC pads, and are really powerful. Need a little warming though to get the best from them (so on cold starts you just need to remember they're no better than normal brakes) but then that's inevetable.
Neil at Peninsual knows the full spec. of all that's been done to the car recently.

Is this one step closer to the Manugistics TVRCC Challenge Cup perhaps, Marcus?
I am currently residing in the shed, and maybee, just maybee, I will be allowed back indoors before the cold weather returns.
But if I was to stuff my, sorry our pride and joy* in a full-on race......
Trouble with racing is, it's not always you, but the other guy(s), and more often than not deep pockets means deep (into the corner) overtaking manouvres.
*My one saving grace is that we share our enthusiasm for the car
Marcus
You are truely an inspiration to all of us who would rather throw cash at our cars to make them go faster rather than gain the equivalent speed increase through a calorie controlled diet!
Maybe that's why the ride height looked so low on Saturday!
Anyway, here's to the man who will now be at the front of the queue at the pie shop (with me in second spot)
All the best

I am beginning to suspect that sprint/hillclimb success is inextricably linked to driver's calorie intake control.
Granted that if we follow Colin Chapman's (well proven) recipe of "adding more lightness" as the best route to a quick lap, my strategy is way off the mark.
I think I'll follow the route more popular to TVR competitors - modify the car to compensate for the driver - with more power and bigger, better brakes and suspension.
Which leaves me with the sole dietary worry of perfecting the
bacon buttie/banana (a very underestimated fruit) ratio.

I guess that gives you something to think about while spinning down the start finish straight at Goodwood...
Red or brown sauce, butter or no butter, smoked bacon or normal bacon
Bit worried about your soft fruit tendancies - surely you mean a big cream bun for afters!
See you soon

I was more worried about the re-appearance of already consumed bacon butties and bananas (through whichever exit orrifice
) when I span at Goodwood!
If I'd have hit the wall (as I very nearly did) it'd have been the boilwash for the race suit.

... and the garden shed for a year you cold nights or not...
DC
When we were looking at the house we recently moved to, the vendors (who had two kids) asked whether we wanted the sale to include the wooden shed-type wendy house, 'Gingerbread Cottage'.
I thought it would be far too handy a banishing zone, and quickly declined their kind offer (there was already a shed there for all the garden stuff, and general sulking in).
