Serpentine engine drive belt tensioner ?

Help please, 98 Griff 500 non air con. Fitted a new drive belt and Steve’s book indicates a bolt that fixes the spring loaded pulley that keeps the belt tight. Is it normal for the pulley to be free to move under it’s sprung action or should the pulley be fixed in one position when the single nut in the centre is tightened.

It's a tensioner so should be free to move

It moves, and should do, as you may have noticed there is no retaining circlip to hold the bearing simply relies on a push fit, do yourself a favour just add a couple of centre pops on the housing or a few drops of bearing lock tight I have a spare one if you require.
