Complete throttle cable replacement??

the search section doesn't work so i'll hope you can help me with this matter;


would like to replace / change my complete throttle cable incl. shroud etc. but how...?

the most difficult place to work is probably the section near the pedals?

i have to push through the bulkhead to the pedal with the new one but can it be done from above near brake mastercyl. is there enough access to do this?

or do i need to remove more items for acces?

Its fairly easy to do and yes you can feed it in from the inspection cover. The hardest bit is removing the cable from the actual pedal. To do this it is easier to remove the pedal, it is just two nuts and then there is just enough room to force the pedal off. The end of the cable has a metal eye which locates in the top of the pedal, this on mine was araldited in place. Hack this out and then you are ready to place the new one in. The metal eye on my new cable was slightly larger than the original so i just had to enlarge the hole in the pedal slightly and then araldite the new one back in. Not a difficult job. When you get the pedal off so you can see it, it will all become apparent.

one question about the new throttle cable; i want to remove the old shroud also because i need a longer one!

so when i cut and remove the inner cable can i then remove the outer cable / black shroud so pull out from the inspection hole and change for a longer one?

i need a rhd throttle cable set with shroud because i have bought an act twin carbon kit and the lhd throttle cable is to short to go to the throttle body.

the act kit comes with a longer inner throttle cable but the lhd shroud is to short so i need a rhd one!?

You will have to get down in the footwell and you will see where the outer cable locates. You will have to remove the pedal to get adequate access to remove it. With the pedal in place its just too difficult to get to.

Just done this job and was roundly cursing the kind soul who glued the cable end into the rubber grommet at the pedal end; big help! Also still have too much slack in the mew cable despite the adjuster being wound right out...anyone overcome this with a clever tweak? Strikes me the pedal needs top and bottom stops then the cable hanger could be moved to take up excess freeplay too. Poor design not for the first time...
