outriggers

Hi
I was just wonndering if anybody knew what the going rate for outrigger replacement was ? Being quoted roughly 1700 pds plus the dreaded ! Checked sportomotive roughly the same any where in the southwest any cheaper?

I think X works Lancashire charge £1500 all in. Maybe worth a little travelling.

Depends on the extent of the rot. Bit of a trek for you, but Techniques motorsport, a Morgan specialist who look after many TVR's including mine.are extremely competative on outrigger work, the chap to speak to is Brian whos owns the place. Top guy.

Thanks, worth a phone call indeed,do I replace the bit with hole in , or both sides completely just to be on the safe side?

Just been under my cerb and i have a hole in one outrigger too.bks says me cos i was about to strip the back end out;)

Dulfords replaced the front outriggers on mine back in 2008 spongy, Track V Road said they couldn't even tell it had been done, must've been a hell of a good job they did.

I know Track V Road replace outriggers for 1500 plus VAT, brings it in slightly cheaper.

I done the out riggers on my 500 chim cost me £150 for the tube steel , it is a lot of work involved to do it properly

Hi Pete,

when I bought my Griff the outriggers were quite bad (no holes visible but almost). I did not want to replace them right away (before knowing the car better) so i grinded them down with a steal brush and used the blade from a steal saw that i bend in a nice curve to scrape off the upper side of the outriggers with. I then applied Fertan rust converter twice using a diffuser spraying it up over the outrigger. I don't know how long it will last but it really did make them look pretty clean and gave them a black shinning surface. I then applied a std black underbody paint and passed MOT without any issues.

I know changing them is the right way in the long run but this could be cheap solution to make them last a couple of years longer.

The trouble is, the outrigger behind the os wheel has a whole in that I can two fingers in,I only noticed when I had the car in the tyre garage and decided to have a dig and remove a couple of stones from the back of the outrigger.
Me thinks bite the bullet and get them replaced, major job out of the way ! That way I won't have any major jobs left hopefully,

Bud give MB Motorsports a try,they are in the south west and i have just had a very good quote for my cerb to be done.Chap is very helpful on the phone too

Dulfords do about 10 of these a year now.

Superb job too.
Doubt they'll be the cheapest out there (knowing the good work they do) but you will get a top job done.

Spoken to em bud but they gave me the highest quote by miles and i mean miles.They were my first port of call as my car has had work done there before

Not 100% on the cost but Sebring manufacture their own outriggers and can do a fantastic job. Bear in mind that they make loads of steel tube chassis for the Sebring kit cars they really do know what their doing both in manufature and fitting.

I picked my chim from Sportmotive last Saturday having had them galvanise and fit their outriggers.

Not the cheapest option I'm sure but I'm very happy with the job they did.
