Voltmeter of the dial

Out in the Griff yesterday at Sherborne Castle and noticed on the way back battery gauge off the dial. I have been using a trickle charge, but this surely couldn't of over charged the battery. Any ideas

If it's not a dodgy gauge.... Most likely cause, is a failed voltage reg in the alternator.....

Be careful if using the car, as over voltage of this much can boil the battery...

I had it once and managed to get home by turning on all the lights, blower, and anything else that would bring voltage down...

A service exchange alternator cured the problem

Cheers for that, the gauge spins straight around to the right once ignition switched on. I will get it looked at.

I had the same fault with mine. I connected a multimeter via the ciggy lighter and this showed normal levels. Turned out to be a guage fault.

Nice one, thanks, been looking for replacement on web, not that easy to find. Re your posting on tyres, just put new Toyos T1R 15 on front and 16 on rear, but local garage in Devizes so long way from Essex.

Thanks Graham, if I get really desperate for tyres then I know where to go....

I was fortunate in that my TVR specialist had a spare gauge which he swapped the face on to repair mine. I know others have either ordered a new one or had theirs repaired by speedy cables http://www.speedycables.com/

Have a search on here for speedy cables.

Thanks for the link. On the subject of tyres can't believe how good the Toyos feel compared to my old mix of Bridgestone SO2 rear, and Goodyears on the front If you have to come up this way for tyres could always make it a weekend trip...... any excuse for long drive.

I really liked the original Bridgestones on my Griff I was always a little disappointed with the Toyos when I replaced the rears. I few people said to me at the time about matching up the fronts with Toyos as well. Like you ever since I changed the fronts to Toyos as well I have been much happier.

On a hot dry day I would still rather have the Bridestones but I think the Toyos feel much more planted in the rain.

Any excuse for a long drive indeed

Use etb instruments -quick service - spot on and far cheaper! Did me proud over my two dials
Good luck with it Graham. Could be a bd, as they will require you to post the dial to them and you know what that means..... Taking out that wooden dash !!!! Lovely
