Door speaker pods
Discussion
Im going to get some door speaker pods made up and wondered if anyone else has done this yet.
Any pics?
I cant add back speakers as the rear shelf will be holding luggage.
And before you can say "just listen to the burble" I want the stereo for the long distance driving. Le Mans must be the first time that I have really used the stereo and I've decided an upgrade is an absolute must before driving to Italy.
Thanks.

Mine has sperate tweeters surface mounted next to the door speakers. Not 'pods' but cheaper and surely only a metter of component design?
I've never used them by the way. In fact they'll soon be coming out along with the stereo so I can hear the eight piece orchestra under the bonnet. But then I'm not driving to Spain...
(and it's a pre-cat

)My ones came with the car, the previous owner had a lot of things done by Fernies so it may pay to give Brian a call and see if he can recall if they got them mage up. He may know a local trimmer
They do enable you to have a 5" speaker and a small tweeter. So if you know your acoustics then you will benefit, however I prefer the noise from the back

Type speaker pods in a google image search to see what I mean.
Clearest pic is below.
I'd like better sound and so wish to fit pods and reference speakers (IE: Seperate tweater).
I'd be getting them made at an ICE speacialist.
That's what I thought you meant. I had this horrible image of a Nova style MDF box with 10 woofers sticking out

Adam,
I fitted some rear speaker around 3 months ago into the existing vents holes.
There was a post suggesting not to block these as this would pressurise the cabin but there are so many other gaps we havn't had any problems.
I fitted Pioneer TS1375 (I think) from Dabs - see below for 1395 which are slightly better.
www.dabs.com/uk/Search2/Product+Details.htm?quicklinx=22JW&searchphrase=pioneer
All I had to do was file a cut out for the four fixings - easy really if you have a small file.
I connected the wires to the connector block behind the passenger door but nothing worked. Whoever upgraded the head unit hadn't connected the rear cables at the back of the unit. Files to the rescue again to remove it and hey presto.
Much better when the roof is off on long journeys - You can actually hear it now.
I will look to upgrade the fronts at some point so they match but no real rush.
The new TVR's have TVR printed on the front cover where Pioneer would normally be - not sure how much these are but could be worthwhile.
